The church of Saint Jean-Baptiste de Rac overlooks the plain of Malataverne. It was originally a baptismal church before becoming a parish church. Around eight centuries old, it has undergone various periods of construction and renovation.
Description
According to the brief history of Malataverne by the late Mr. Léon Chaix, a local figure with a generous word, "Rac was a rocky promontory, facing north, with two valleys, one on the right, the other on the left, (which) was one of those places which, in the mists of time, received the first inhabitants who now wished to live on the surface of the earth and no longer in the rocks".
