Des collines au bord de l’eau

1

This family-friendly tour can be split into two distinct themes: the hills and history of Donzère, and river canals and irrigation. And don't forget... the Rhône!

Description

From Place du Champ de Mars, walk to Place de la Fontaine. Take the D844 to the left, Rue Recoude to the right, Rue de la Roche to the left and Chemin du Devoy to the right. Cross the D844 and keep to the left for 70 m. At the junction with the traverse de la Rabasse, turn right onto the path alongside the wall. Turn left to stay in the valley and pass the tufa waterfall. The path climbs. Cross the road and continue on Chemin des Roches for 450 m. Before the right-hand bend, take the first path on the left and go downhill. Fork right. Continue down Chemin de Beauvert to reach the housing estate.
> Variant (5.4 km circuit): go straight on along chemin de Beauvert.
Turn right on rue de la Colline and right again on boulevard du Défilé. Cross the D 486. Continue along the track that passes under the railroad line, then along Chemin des Ribières opposite and Chemin des Mariniers on the right. At the banks of the Rhône (view of the Robinet bridge on the right), take the left-hand path. At the dam (beginning of the Donzère-Mondragon canal), take the road on the left for 150 m, then the Chemin des Agriculteurs on the right for 670 m. Turn left for 30 m, then right for 300 m. Turn left onto the hedged path. Cross the road, go straight ahead and, after the footbridge over the Pierrelatte canal, turn left. After turning right, continue along the canal on the Chemin du Canal-d'0range for 550 m.
Take Ie chemin (route) des Louves to the right, Ie chemin de la Condamine to the left, skirting the railroad line and passing the station. Turn right under the tracks and continue along chemin des Ribières. Turn left on rue Paul-Cézanne, then right on avenue du Rhône. Straight ahead, enter the old village via rue Frédéric-Mistral and continue along Grande Rue. From Place de la Fontaine, join Place du Champ de Mars.
